No — Perplexity is working normally

About this service
Perplexity is both a search app and an API (Sonar). An answer stuck on “searching” can be caused by the websites it reads, not only by Perplexity itself, so try a different question before deciding the service is down.

Perplexity: common questions
What should I do if Perplexity is not working?
Reload the page or restart the app first, then open a new conversation: very long chats break more often than fresh ones. If you are stuck in a sign-in loop, sign out completely and back in. When this page shows a problem, there is nothing to repair on your side — waiting 15 to 30 minutes is usually enough, and one of the alternatives above can cover the gap.
Why does Perplexity work for other people but not for me?
Outages often hit one region, one feature or one group of accounts before the rest. On your side, the usual causes are a browser extension (ad blockers and VPN add-ons especially), a VPN exit that Perplexity has blocked, a bloated browser cache, or the usage cap of your plan. Try a private window without extensions, or the phone app on mobile data: if it works there, the problem is local.
Perplexity is very slow or stops halfway through an answer. Is it down?
Not necessarily. Slow streaming and answers that cut off are the typical first sign of overload, which we show as “slow or glitchy” rather than down. Regenerating the answer or switching to a lighter model in the model menu often helps straight away.
Will I lose my conversations during an outage?
Very unlikely. Chats are stored on Perplexity's servers, and an outage blocks access to them rather than deleting them; a conversation that won't open during an incident normally comes back afterwards. Before retrying a long prompt, copy it somewhere so you don't have to type it again.
How do you know whether Perplexity is down?
For Perplexity we combine Perplexity's official status page, read every minute and reports from people who press the button on this page. The most serious signal that is still fresh sets the verdict, and stale sources are ignored rather than trusted. The page refreshes by itself; the exact thresholds are on our “How we check” page.
